The supporting cast is not abundant, however, every member does serve an important nunction with the addition of the emotional depth of the film. The characters serve a gentle like embrace which allows the audience to slowly reveal the framework of the world that Azrael is trying to escape from.
Mart Taniel captivates the listener with the mood of magic and eeriness by using wordless narration in one of its most powerful forms. The slow unfurling of the film reveals vast forests, shadowy trails, misty mornings, each of a natural frame that expresses the emotional fabric of Azrael’s grappling with hope and despair.
The impact of the film is buoyed by the use of sound in a sensitive manner. While the characters in the film remain mute, the audio has intricate textures that include the sounds of leaves, the wind, and a gentle soundscape.
