Synopsis
The Indian erotic thriller “Hate Story 3,” released on December 4, 2015, is an exciting entry to the popular Hate Story franchise. Directed by Vishal Pandya and produced by Bhushan Kumar under the T-Series banner, the film builds upon the earlier movies and continues the trend of seductive storytelling filled with revenge, betrayal, and power struggles.
The film begins with a lucrative business in the hands of Aditya Dewan, portrayed by Sharman Joshi, who gets it after the untimely death of his brother Vikram Dewan. Now, Aditya is a flourishing businessman and he is accompanied by his striking and supportive wife Siya Dewan, played by Zareen Khan. The audience is introduced to the couple as living an ideal life, marked by both personal and professional success. The couple is portrayed as philanthropic, a media sensation, and admired by the society.
Things begin to change for the peaceful couple when a mysterious and suavy businessman Saurav Singhania (Karan Singh Grover) appears. Saurav has an empire which stretches to the corners of the globe. He offers to make a partner with Aditya and spells out the terms of the partnership. To Aditya’s shock, the partnership comes with an immoral condition where Saurav gets to sleep with Aditya’s wife, Siya. His proposal causes the two men to clash and a series of plots, betrayals, and violence ensue.
While Saurav starts to take down Aditya’s businesses and sinogen publicly, Aditya is fully determined to make the life Saurav is creating for him a reality. His businesses and reputation begin to take a beating, and Saurav does not seem to stop. Aditya is also quite lonely in this chapter of life, and while Siya supports him, she does not seem to understand what is really happening.
Using flashbacks and dramatic events, it’s revealed Saurav’s vendetta is due to his past. As a lover of Kavya, who was once engaged to Vikram Dewan, Saurav felt a strong connection to her. After her suspicious death, Saurav placed the blame solely on the Dewan family, vowing to take revenge against them. It’s further revealed that Saurav is under the impression that he is protecting Kavya’s honor by destroying Aditya and Siya, fulfilling his revenge on behalf of Kavya.
As the story progresses, it transforms into a more intense game of cat and mouse. The climax builds suspense to the eventual faceoff of the two men, who have a final confrontation, exposing the truths behind their last encounters. Though the ending depicts a tear inducing twist, the life altering love story comes to a close.
